Heidelberg is the fifth largest city in the south-west of Germany, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The 600-year old university has made it a UNESCO-protected city as well as a well developed center for Humanities and Sciences. It is home to the most beautiful well preserved old town in Germany.The modern city was founded in the 5th century AD, although it was already inhabited years before that.
